It's so hard to find an authentic restaurant- pro tip: if a restaurant says they're authentic, they're most likely not! This place truly is authentic though. I was craving caldo de res and remembered I came to this place a few months ago. It did not disappoint. The caldo was so good. My boyfriend ordered a bowl of menudo and said it tasted like a homemade bowl.
I also ordered the tacos especial de birria. Omg. They were so good! I want to go back just so I can eat them again. They fry the tortillas in a little sauce so they're kind of crunchy.
It's definitely a little hole in the wall so don't expect to walk into a fancy place. They service is great though, our waitress was amazing and helpful. -

I so wanted this place to be my go to place be we left disappointed. My wife had enchiladas, cheese, chicken and beef. Cheese was good but others were only ok. I had molcajete and it just missed the mark, not even all the hot. Tortillas seemed to be old and reheated. Rice and beans were not all that hot when served. Bathroom smelled bad. Service was not really good. The check that came to table was correct, but the check that came after running credit card was incorrect. The amount was a small difference but any time you get the bill wrong it's a big deal!
On the good side we enjoyed chips and salsa and margarita. Portions were large. -

Huevos con chorizo is delicious.
The potatoes are nice and crispy, loved them.
The flour tortillas are warmed / toasted to perfection.
Love the salsa. It's spicy but very tasty.
I love a good cup of coffee and most times Mexican restaurants have the typical coffee which is fine.
But this place has GREAT COFFEE!! -

Wow! The best Mexican food I've had here in Az! Stopped in here to have lunch and kill a bit of time before picking up our grands at school. The atmosphere is typical strip mall Mexican taqueria. The food however is all well prepared and bursting with all the right flavors. I had a chicken chimichanga combo and Steff had a Mexican hotdog. The Chimi was perfect lunch sized and full of great flavor mine was prepared enchilada style with sour cream and guacamole. The beans and rice are probably the most flavorful of any I've ever had and I've had a ton of American based Mexican food. The beans had great mouth feel, I hate it when they blend the beans into cream that is too runny...not these they had a topping of cotija cheese and a perfect thickness than flavor. Steff liked her Mexican hotdog, no surprises flavor is exactly as described in the menu, she would've enjoyed some fresh jalapeños on top though. The server was very nice and timely in her attentiveness. A very enjoyable lunch!
